Ferry bad?
Columnist Brian Wilson said the recent Calmac chaos, with “disruption” on 15 out of 28 routes, is a symptom of the SNP’S centralising obsession
Comparing the situation in Scotland now, with so many free entitlements, to the situation before 1999 shows clearly and unequivocally how much Scotland has benefited from having its own Parliament. And a huge number of these positive changes have come because of SNP policy and their commitment to putting Scotland’s interests first.

Sadly, we in Scotland have become used to laziness, secrecy, nepotism and corruption in public life. It was never like this in the past. Brian Wilson is pointing this out to us and many respondents are agreeing with him and suggesting solutions.

The Scottish Government are too busy trying to upset the United Kingdom and play on the Euro global field to be bothered about such trivia as Ardrossan harbour. The community were better served by the paddle steamers in the 1930s.

I am unsure what Wilson’s gripe is here, unless he wants onto the Calmac Board, and his bid has been refused. Scotland has hundreds of islands and travel round them is expensive. When labour were in power, they had the same problems with this type of State-run enterprise. I don’t recall them going to Greece or Norway to see how they did it.
Gavin Brian Wilson doesn’t seem too worried about centralisation when its Westminster that’s doing it. The truth of the matter is that this article is nothing to do with centralisation. It’s about indulging Brian’s favourite obsession, whining about the SNP, and finding any tenuous link to use as a vehicle for this.

Wilson is a man who believes in London control, not Scottish control. He may therefore quickly be disregarded, not because Edinburgh will always make a better job of it, but because, if we think of ourselves as Scottish, we should be in control of Scottish affairs, we owe it to ourselves out of self respect.
The Immortal Duke
He’s not talking about Scottish control, he’s talking about the lack of investing in forward thinking by the SNP.
