Calls for statue to honour brave fire fighting dog
Scotland’ s first fire dog could soon be honoured with his own statue.
Wallace is credited with saving the lives of blaze victims and firefighters during his tenure at Glasgow Central Fire Station from 1894 to 1902 and had his own boots to protect his paws from the heat.
Now a campaign has been launched to create a £10,000 bronze statue to salute his heroism. After his death Wallace was stuffed and is on display in a fire service museum.
A community group has launched a campaign for a fitting tribute to the brave dog.
