The Houston Astros snapped the New York Yankees’ nine-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory in a rematch of last year’s AL Championsh­ip Series. Charlie Morton held the Yankees to one run on two hits and two walks, and struck out 10 in just over seven innings, while Ken Giles struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth. It was the first meeting between the two teams since the Astros won game seven of last year’s Championsh­ip Series to earn their spot in the World Series, where they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Boston Celtics won the first game of the Eastern Conference semi-finals as two of the team’s rising stars put on dominant displays. Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum scored 29 and 28 points respective­ly as the Celtics surged to a 117-101 win over the Philadelph­ia 76ers. As the Sixers fought to claw back the deficit in the closing minutes, Rozier sank a critical three-pointer to put the pressure back on the opponents. Al Horford also starred for Boston, finishing with 26 points and seven rebounds and sinking a three with five minutes to go to keep their lead in double digits. Brayden Point became the Tampa Bay Lightning’s youngest player to score four points in a Stanley Cup play-off game as his side beat the Boston Bruins 4-2. The 22-year-old finished with a goal and three assists to help the Lightning tie the series at 1-1 after game two of the Eastern Conference second round. Yanni Gourde also netted for Tampa Bay, scoring on a shot that deflected off goaltender Tuukka Rask’s right skate, while goals from Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson secured the win. The Vegas Golden Knights took a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference second round, beating the San Jose Sharks 4-3. They led 3-1 heading into the final period, but the Sharks rallied to tie the game in the closing minutes. William Karlsson got the deciding goal eight minutes into overtime.
