Peterhead grabbed a slender advantage in their play-off semi-final with Stirling Albion thanks to Mason Robertson’s goal in a 1-0 win at Forthbank.

The Blue Toon pinned Stirling back in the opening stages, Willie Gibson setting the tone with a 25-yard volley that flashed inches wide after two minutes.

Gibson then curled a freekick just off-target with Albion goalkeeper Cammy Binnie floundering before Rory Mcallister looked to have grabbed the goal the visitors deserved when he unleashed a powerful drive. However, the ball came crashing back off the bar.

Stirling weathered that storm but fell behind on 28 minutes when Scott Leitch picked out Russell Mclean at the back post and he headed down to Robertson, who shot past Binnie.

The visitors came close again on 57 minutes when Robertson reached Gibson’s corner but his header was scrambled off the line.

Stirling thought they had grabbed a late equaliser when Danny Kavanagh’s cross cannoned off Leith, but the ball rolled away from Greg Fleming’s goal.
