Celebritie­s awarded hacking payouts

Model Danielle Lloyd, actress Jennifer Ellison and former footballer­s Dwight Yorke and Andrew Col e have r e c e ive d undisclose­d damages and an apolog y from Mirror Group N e w s p a p e r s ( M G N ) o v e r phone- hacking.

None of the celebritie­s who were i nvol ve d were a t London’s High Court yesterday for the settlement of their claims for misuse of private informatio­n.

Lawyer Mark Elder told Mr Justice Mann that 34- year- old Ms Lloyd was “distressed and appalled” to learn that she was targeted.

In addition to the emotional impact, Ms Ellison, also 34, believed that the phone- hacking had adversely affected her career.

MGN’S actions had a “mas- sive emotional impact” on Mr Yorke, 46, affected his life in many ways and significan­tly damaged his reputation.
