Weir brings in Baird as his new No2

Forfar manager Jim Weir has brought in his former Montrose striker John Baird as a player and assistant manager.

Weir first worked with t he 32- year- old a decade ago at Links Park and he will replace Barr y Sellars in the No 2 role with Sellars remaining as a coach.

Baird has also played for St Mirren, Stenhousem­uir, Brechin City, Airdrie, Raith Rovers( twice ), Dundee, Par tick Thistle, Queen of the South, Falkirk and ended this season on loan at Morton from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Weir said: “I have kept in touch with John ever since he played for me at Links Park and with his contract at Inverness expiring I knew I had a chance of getting him.

“I am delighted that he has said yes and to bring a player here who has played more than 400 games and scored over 120 goals is a bit of a coup.”
