#STEVENGERRARD
There was only one show in town in the sporting world yesterday as former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was unveiled as Rangers manager after weeks of speculation.
@Bbctomenglish wrote: “Craig Bellamy, the Scottish football font of wisdom, on Steven Gerrard: ‘He could put his boots on now. He’d be the best player up there’.”
@Ewendcameron posted: “If Steven Gerrard is unveiled as Rangers boss then it should be applauded. A former Liverpool/england captain plying his trade here is brilliant. Gamble? Yes. Worth it? Damn right. As a Hearts fan I’ll be delighted to see him standing in the away dugout at Tynie.”
@Sports_emmad
agreed: “Steven Gerrard’s appointment is bold, brave and one of the most exciting at Ibrox for years. Congratulations to Rangers on an ambitious move and delivering their man.”
@Paddypower joked: “Steven Gerrard will sign a three-year deal with Rangers, which is expected to take Celtic up to ten league titles in a row.”
@Jchatfield94 predicted: “The worst part about Gerrard to Rangers is that BBC Sport in England will now massively increase it’s coverage on Scottish football, but only in a really pandering and patronising way, only to reduce it again after he gets sacked.”
#BABYBOX
A row has broken out over the Baby Box that the Scottish Government provides free to all new parents in Scotland.
@Mstewart_23 asked: “Can any of these people so incandescent about the Baby Box please tell me the difference between ours here in Scotland & Finland? Because if you can’t, then you’re arguing against something that has been a huge success for 75 years which is pathetic.”
@Suzehouston wrote: “A babybox from @scotgov is SO much more than a safe place for the baby to sleep. Its contents give new parents meaningful & practical support during those first crucial weeks and months.”
@Milesbriggsmsp posted: “We now must see complete transparency from Nicola Sturgeon and her ministers. All official documentation relating to the safety and the certification of baby boxes must be published immediately. Only that way can parents have faith in this SNP Government.”
