Gatwick plagued by transport chaos

Passengers were subjected to hours of travel delays at Gatwick Airport yesterday because of overcrowding on rail replacement services to Brighton.

National Rail warned queue times to board a replacement bus bound for Brighton from the transport hub were as much as two hours.

People were advised against going to the coast as there were no direct trains from London because of engineering work. Disruption was expected to last until today.
