perhaps someone should ask these poor creatures if they actually want to live an additional 21 years. After all, devolution happened in 1999.

High Dudgeon It is not just the fact these poor souls are dying young, they are sick for years beforehand. This is costing us a fortune. The result must be a drain on public funds, it just has to be. After 11 years all the SNP can think up is more of the same. They are supposed to be stronger for Scotland and know what Scotland needs. Evidently not!

Roastin Life expectancy is something gauged over decades, centuries. The SNP has been in power for 11 years, the unionists for 311. The life expectancy in Scotland was lower than in England in 1800, in 1900, in 2000.

schraubenschluesselfrei Our politicians use it as a vote-winning ploy by looking after the poor, the needy and disabled by throwing money at them. They should not be surprised; where has there ever been anything but redundancies at a company which has been taken over and under new management?

Stuart Andrew D Rankin Seems a few folk on this board think that it’s the government’s job to make sure private enterprise survives even with poor management and planning. It’s not.

Moosef Government intervention is expensive. Had the workers been retained instead of paying white collar visionaries whose focus is their own image we’d compete with the best; but no, not in the Socialist Republic of Scotland.

Miniso Well done to the Scottish government in its job at keeping so many jobs intact. Although we will have some redundancy in this takeover, in the long run a lot of families will be getting bread on the table. If it had been up to the London-based junta all these employees would be joining the food bank line.

Jim Jones What about all the other people in Scotland that lose their jobs every week?
