Event aiming to encourage young people into business

0 Mount Florida Primary pupils Madeleine Mackenzie and Harry Grant ahead of the event in June A two-day festival highlighti­ng the achievemen­ts of young people in social enterprise activities in school is set to take place in Glasgow next month.

Young Enterprise Scotland (YES)’S Festival of Youth Enterprise will be held at Hampden Park on 5 and 6 June, encouragin­g attendees to mull business ideas and career options.

It will let them network with potential employers and representa­tives from colleges and universiti­es, and showcase their own products. More than 500 young people are expect- ed to attend and speakers include David Duke, founder of Street Soccer Scotland.

YES chief executive Geoff Leask said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing how people react and respond to all the activities and opportunit­ies we have on offer.”

Royal Bank of Scotland is key partner and lead sponsor of this year’s event. Paula Ritchie, the lender’s regional head of business developmen­t Scotland, said it is a chance to celebrate the “wealth” of young talent in Scotland.
