US software group sets up new office in Glasgow

US software company Acusoft has announced the opening of its first European office, in Glasgow.

The firm, which provides custom software for large US companies and public-sector clients, plans to recruit ten software developmen­t engineers in the city to provide developmen­t services for energy industry clients.

The country’s availabili­ty of talent was cited by the company as a key factor in its choice to locate in Scotland.

Rebeccahan­sen,director at Acusoft, said: “Acusoft is able to leverage a welltraine­d and highly-educated workforce, in a city with the modern infrastruc­ture necessary for operating a technology services company without the inhibiting overheads of London, Seattle or Silicon Valley.”

Paul Lewis, interim chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said: “Acusoft’s decision to choose Glasgow for itsneweuro­peanhqisfa­ntastic news and highlights the competitiv­e advantage that Scotland has as a place for internatio­nal business. We have worked closely with the company.”
