Heart of Midlothian Pitch battle
To beat Celtic you need a dry, grassy pitch and everything to go in your favour and against them. It would be wrong to say bad officiating cost us the game, but it could have unfolded differently if a perfectly good goal had stood and Celtic’s marginally offside one been disallowed.
Hearts started exactly as the fans wanted, positively and aggressively. Lafferty’s superb goal gave us a deserved lead but it was surrendered too quickly. Celtic were better in the second half but it was disappointing individual mistakes as well as their skill led to their goals. Writing before last night’s derby, I hope we delivered a winning performance. In these daft times of playing teams four times, bragging rights are short lived – until the last derby of the season.
