KNOCKHILL GEARS UP FOR BIGGEST REVERSE-RUN MEET

-

Knockhill Racing Circuit is preparing for the biggest ever event to be held on the reverse direction circuit.

This weekend the TCR Touring Car Championship and its various support categories are taking over the Fife circuit.

Around 200 racers will be competing across the weekend in everything from Mazda MX-5S and Caterhams to Porsches as well as the main attraction touring cars.

Stuart Gray, Knockhill’s director of events said: “We have been working with the BRSCC for two years to bring this event north and with such a quality line up of championships and numbers entered, we are all going to be in for a real treat.

“It will be the largest event ever hosted on the reverse direction configuration of Knockhill, offering a new and unique challenge to all the drivers.”

Topping the bill for this weekend’s action are Scottish are BTCC star Aiden Moffat and former BTCC and Super Tourer racer Derek Palmer who will be taking the wheel of racing their spectacular Alfa Romeo Giuliettas

Stuart continued: “The full two days of racing will bring an entourage of some 1,500 people, many of whom will be in the Fife area for five nights, providing an estimated 6,000 bed nights of accommodation for the area and the resultant economic benefit that that will bring.

“It is great to see the London-based British Racing and Sports Car Club return to Knockhill after 20 years, bringing such a high-profile event.”

The 20-race programme starts at 1.15pm on Saturday, having had qualifying from 8.30am, and on Sunday the remaining 12 races begin from 8.30am, featuring a unique grid walk for all spectators for the TCR racers prior to their second championship race.

Adult entry is £12 on Saturday, £20 on Sunday with a weekend ticket costing £23 if purchased in advanced.
