- By SCOTT REID

Boyd Insurance has acquired Musselburgh-based brokerage Insureness marking the first takeover deal since Boyd combined forces with Broker Network a year ago.

The acquisition – for an undisclosed sum – will strengthen the company’s footprint in the Scottish commercial insurance market with annual premium income now in excess of £16 million.

Eric Richardson, Boyd’s managing director, said: “We have taken a thoughtful and considered approach to making our first purchase as Broker Network partners.

“We wanted to work with a brokerage that fits well with our culture and customer focus and we firmly believe that this will not only strengthen our footprint in Scotland but also enhance our service to customers.”

He added: “We are in currently discussions with other potential partners and are on track to achieve our target of £20m of premium by the end of this year.”
