Purrfect turn out as hundreds of cats attend show
More than 200 cats gatheredindundeeattheweekend for the city’s annual Championship Cat Show.
This year’s event – the 47th time the show has been hosted and the most northerly show of its kind in the UK – is run by the Nor’ East of Scotland Cat Club and the Siamese Cat Society of Scotland.
More than 1,000 people from all over Scotland are believed to have visited the Caird Hall over the weekend. Campaigners are warning that rare Scottish wildcats are being put at risk with tree felling operations in a forest in Aberdeenshire.
Activists say they have found evidence of 13 different species living in Clashindarroch, near Huntly, which is owned by Scottish Government agency Forestry Commission Scotland.
