I see the return of horsedrawn vehicles. This will be good for animal-lovers and those cultivating mushrooms. The potholes formed by heavy buses, trucks and EVS will be an unhappy distant memory.

Cambayne How do you think things get to the shops? A nasty diesel delivery lorry. I, like millions of other drivers, are fed up of being ripped off. I look forward to my compensation cheque from the government after I was persuaded to buy an environmentally-friendly diesel.

Not more tax For the money the ‘clowncil’ squandered on half a tram line as the main shareholder in Lothian Buses they could have replaced every bus on the Lothian fleet with electric hydrids, and when the current fleet was sold off they would still have had a considerable sum in the bank.

choccywoccydoda Retail shopping for the Edinburgh natives largely happens in large retail parks well away from the centre. Unless you’re looking for specialist and expensive stuff, there’s no need to go into town for shopping. The city centre is increasingly for the tourists.

kmcn This will be guaranteed to hit a lot of smaller businesses and private car owners very hard indeed, in some cases literally forcing people off the road for good. The first vehicles to be made ‘clean’ surely have to be all the diesel-fuelled buses, black cabs and private hire vehicles. Norton Lux Defeats the whole object of graffiti! Waste of money and time when there are so much more problems to solve in Glasgow.

lana58 “Most of these young boys are creatives” – fine, get them out doing constructive painting, like old folks’ fences and other good works. That way they can satisfy their “creative” side and do something for the community too. Ofcom should withdraw the RT broadcasting licence but won’t? Why?

Samuelcoldstream RT needs to be demonstrably in breach of Ofcom’s (albeit notoriously woolly) regulations. Distaste about its source of funding and editorial line cannot and do not enter into this. A provision made to Ofcom regs to frustrate the “Shut down the Biased BBC” obsessives.

Suburban Wolf Most Scots had the measure of the man in 2014 when we balked at the idea of such a rampant ego running the show. Salmond has gone on to demonstrate not only how right we were but also to expose his character flaws to his former loyal adherents.
