Fire at industrial estate was ‘started deliberately’
A fire which caused extensive damage to premises on an industrial estate was started deliberately, police have said.
Police and the fire service launched a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze on Southfield Industrial Estate in Glenrothes.
At the height of the incident, around 40 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze, which left two disused premises extensively damaged.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Faraday Road around 11:15pm on Monday, with two fire engines and a height appliance still at the scene at 2pm yesterday.
There were no reports of any injuries and police are appealing for information.
Sergeant Kirk Donnelly said: “This was a hugely reckless act which has resulted in damage to property, with other neighbouring business premises also at risk of being damaged.
“I’d urge anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area in recent days, or who has any information about this fire, to contact us as soon as possible.”
