- By SCOTT REID

Specialist steel plate distributor Brown Mcfarlane has been named as the latest occupier at the Maxim Office Park at Eurocentral.

The firm has taken space on the second floor of the Maxim 3 building on a five-year lease. It was previously based at Panorama Business Village in the east end of Glasgow.

Following fit-out works in July, workers are expected to move into their new home in August.

Founded in 1889, Brown Mcfarlane offers one of the largest selections of steel products and services in the industry and has recently invested more than £2 million in state-of-the art equipment. Its products are used in energy, mining and quarrying, offshore and general engineering applications.

Peter Brown, finance director, said: “While our main warehousing facility is located in Stoke-on-trent, as a Scottish company, we are keen to maintain and grow our presence in the Scottish market as well as service our customers in the rest of the UK and abroad.

“Our move to Maxim fits well with our growth aspirations and supports our aim to moderniseandtransitionfromtraditional steel stockholder and profiler to integrated solutions provider.”

CBRE and Ryden represented Maxim Office Park, whilst Brown Mcfarlane was represented by Dentons UK LLP.

Craig Ritchie, director at Maxim, which is located next to the M8 corridor between Glasgow and Edinburgh, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Brown Mcfarlane to Maxim, and it’s positive to see yet another company with an international customer base choose Maxim as its business destination.

“Brown Mcfarlane’s move to the Park follows the recent relocation of global supplier of IT and document services Ricoh, and I’m confident that tenants of such high calibre will attract further companies to consider Maxim.”
