Stumbled over the line

- Gilbert Mowat

Thank goodness that’s the season finished. It was good at the start, but you can’t be satisfied when you lose more matches and concede more goals than anyone else. We ought to have been safe weeks ago and have barely stumbled over the line to safety. Two runs of six consecutive defeats and one run of five were difficult to bear.

Change is happening fast with lots of players leaving – some of them good ones, some not so good. A major rebuild will need to happen, although, as usual, I think we will wait until just before the end of the transfer window before we pick up the cheaper players nobody else wants. (It also means we can save on their wages over the summer). Next season will be our fifth consecutive year in the top flight. We’ll be here to annoy everyone for a while yet.
