The Tampa Bay Lightning put themselves back in contention in the Eastern Conference finals as they took game three 4-2 against the Washington Capitals. Trailing 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, the Lightning had goal tender Andrei Vasilevski­y to thank for the victory as he faced 38 shots from a fearsome Capitals attack. Steven Stamkos opened the scoring for Tampa Bay on the powerplay in the first period, before Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman scored within two second-period minutes to extend the lead to 3-0. Brett Connolly brought the Capitals back in to the game on 10:31 in the second, before Brayden Point fired in a snapshot past Braden Holtby to restore a three-goal cushion for the Lightning. Evgeny Kuznetsov then scored for the Capitals with 3:02 left. NHL PLAY-OFFS Eastern Conference Final: Washington Capitals 2 Tampa Bay Lightning 4 (Washington lead series 2-1).
