Fund urged to relieve stressed care staff

- By KATRINE BUSSEY

A new Care for the Carer Fund has been proposed to help prevent “stressed” and “fatigued” social care staff from quitting their jobs.

The move urged to be carried out by the S cottish Government is one of a package of measures put forward by industry body Scottish Care. The organisation has warned the care at home sector is facing a “precipice”.

As well as dedicated funding aimed at protecting the “mental health” of frontline staff, Scottish Care is calling for a Pay Commission to be set up to determine what is an “adequate rate of pay” for workers.

The body also wants an independent, cross- part y commission.
