Police search of ex- PM’S house finds no evidence
A seven- hour police search of former Malaysian prime minister Na jib Razak’ s property as part of a money - laundering investigation being pushed by his successor has not found any incriminating documents.
Mr Razak’s lawyer, Harp al Singh Grew al, said that police seized several boxes of personal possessions, including handbags and clothing. He said the search of the house and an upscale condominium in Kuala Lumpur was carried out under the anti- money laundering act.
New prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who pulled off a stunning election victory last week to unseat Mr Razak’s National Front coalition after 60 years in power, reopened an inquiry into a state investment fund being investigated abroad. Mr Razak star ted the fund in 2009.
