£814000 whisky breaks records

-

A bottle of whisky smashed a record auction price yesterday – only to be eclipsed by a second bottle at the same auction. The Macallan Peter Blake 1926 60-year-old went under the hammer in Hong Kong for £751,703 – beating the previous record by almost £300,000. But it was then beaten by a Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60-year-old which went for £814,08, according to Bonhams.

The record-breaking whisky, bottled in 1986, was described as the “holy grail of Macallan” by auction directors.
