Man jailed for reversing into former partner

A man who deliberately drove into his ex-girlfriend while drunk during a row on a romantic getaway to Fife has been jailed for two years.

Darren Johnstone and Kay Thomson argued after going out for dinner in January this year, after which Mr Johnstone reversed towards Ms Thomson after driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

A sheriff told Johnstone that only Ms Thomson’s lunging out of the way had prevented her being badly hurt.

Johnstone admitted a charge of assault to danger of life.
