French authorities foil Paris terror threat
French authorities say they have thwarted a possible attack using ricin or explosivesandhandedpreliminary terrorism charges to a young Egyptian man arrested in Paris.
President Emmanuel Macron’s government recently came under criticism for not preventing attacks like a deadly Islamic extremist stabbing in central Paris last Saturday.
The man was arrested a week ago in the French capital’s 18th district, according to a security official.
Authorities found explosive powder and guides on how to make explosives from materials such as ricin, the official said.
The man, thought to be around 20 years old, was handed preliminary charges of association with a terrorist enterprise.
Another man was also arrested but later released.
