Time to revolt

- DAVID FLETT Queen Street, Bannockburn

It would be invigorating to live in a country whose government vociferously opposed the numerous disgusting foreign policies of our “special relationship” partner Donald Trump.

It would be equally heartening to have a leadership that bans the sale of armaments to the Saudi aggressor regime currently ethnically cleansing its way through Yemen then beyond.

The right-wing demonisation of Russia, Iran and Assad should be called out for the smokescreen that it is, whilst the Israeli slaughtering of the oppressed people of Gaza should be raised as the world’s number one pressing concern with outrage by all representatives at the UN.

Instead we’re served by a meek PM too scared to say No to the zealots in her own party and an FM who retreats at the mere words “Now is not the time”.

As the media trawls over every minute detail of the Royal Wedding this weekend, we can only hope there is some sort of revolution in the offing.

As a planet, we’re heading in the wrong direction.
