Mcgregor is fourth to pull out of tour

- By ANDY NEWPORT

New Rangers goalkeeper Allan Mcgregor has become the latest player to pull out of the Scotland squad heading to Peru and Mexico.

No reason was given by the Scottish Football Association for his withdrawal but his absence means Celtic keeper Scott Bain has been handed an international return.

Mcgregor sealed his move back to Ibrox on Wednesday on a two-year deal. But he will not be making the transatlantic trip, where the Scots are due to face Peru in Lima on 29 May before travelling to Mexico City for the 2 June clash with the Mexicans.

His place in the squad now goes to Bain, who last week made his switch from Dundee to Celtic permanent, signing a four-year agreement.

Scotland coach Alex Mcleish has already seen Matt Ritchie, Ryan Fraser and Barry Douglas pull out. John Souttar remains an injury doubt while Celtic quintet Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney, Callum Mcgregor, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths are among a number of regulars who have been left out.

Motherwell winger Chris Cadden and Kilmarnock defender Stephen O’donnell are the only other players so far added to the original 24-man squad.
