Trump calls for FBI probe over election ‘infiltration’

US President Donald Trump has deepened his war of words with the FBI – demanding it be investigated for infiltrating his campaign.

He has vowed to officially call on the department of justice to launch an inquiry today.

It follows an inflammatory tweet last night in which he suggested his campaign was compromised for “political purposes”.

And he asked for investigators to look at whether the administration of his predecessor, Barack Obama, was involved.

The president tweeted: “I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the department of justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump campaign for political purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama administration!”
