Adonis hits out at VTEC handling

Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) should have been stripped of its franchise months earlier, Lord Adonis has claimed.

The peer said he would have brought services into public control “much sooner” than Transport Secretary Chris Gray ling.vtec was due to run the franchise until 2023, but after running into troubles it was announced last year that the agreement would end in 2020. But last week the government announced it will take over control of the line from VTEC on June 24.
