The Capitals’ first goal came in the second period, with TJ Oshie breaking the scoreless tie with a power play goal after 15 minutes and 12 seconds. Devante Smith-pelly ramped up the pressure to put the Capitals 2-0 up in the third period, and Oshie saw out the victory by adding an empty-netter in the final minute.
