‘ Rod the Mod’ gets in the mood for an audience with the Pope

Sir Rod Stewart sported a floral shirt during a visit to the Vatican for an audience with Pope Francis.

The 73- year-old rock star, who was also wearing patterned trousers and fur- lined loafers, was accompanied by his wife, Penny Lancaster, on the trip to St Peter’s Square to attend the Pope’s general audience.

The couple, who have been married for 11 years, are currently on holiday in Rome.

Lancaster told her Instagram followers: “An unforgettable morning. The heavens open and so did the umbrellas and our hearts.

“The Pope asked us to pray for him and we where presented with blessed rosar ys and celebrated with a traditional Italian lunch.”
