Going flat out

This week, on The Mound in Edinburgh, there are two interesting gatherings–the Flat Earth Society and the somewhat smaller General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

The Flat Earth movement has supporters all over the globe. The members of the Church of Scotland fear for the souls of the rest of us and sincere - ly believe that we need their help. They believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and they say that we are the ones that need help?
