DUP in charge

-

While the Scottish NHS is facing a disastrous staff shortage as a result of Brexit, and the UK Government deliber- ately give no clues about the level of immigration which will be allowed into Scotland thereafter, the leaders of two of our biggest parties in Scotland give the impression they could not care.

The SNP’S Nicola Sturgeon is about to launch National Assemblies to explain to her devoted followers the latest attempt at putting gloss on the economics of an independent Scotland, and Scottish Tory Ruth Davidson tells her part y faithful they are just a tad joyless. Well, who would have known?

It is not just they don’t care, they have both been sidelined. In the real world, this country is being run by Ian Paisley and Sammy Wilson of the DUP, the Conservatives’ minority part- ner, who are invoking the loyalist spirit and both saying that Tory PM Mrs May should demonstrate a “no surrender” attitude to the EU. The Conservative Government is being led down the cliff towards a hard Brexit by the hard- line DUP. Ruth Davidson and her dozen Scottish Conservative MPS are no longer even cannon fodder.
