Australian comic to give opening Fringe address
An Australian comic whose podcasts have been downloaded more than 30 million times is to deliver the official opening address at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Deborah Frances White, who launched The Guilty Feminist podcasts withsofie Hagen in 2015, will speak to performers, promoters and producers at the event.
She will be recalling her experiences over ten previous Fringe appearances.
She said: “The Fringe is an adventure playground of ideas, a marvellous meshing of minds and the world’s largest, most animated anthology of the human spirit and selfexpression.”
Fringe Society chief executiveshonamccarthysaid: “The welcome address is always one of the Fringe’s must-see events. I’m sure artists will be inspired by Deborah’s experience as a performer, writer, and broadcaster.”
