Just looked back at what was said when the idea of Police Scotland was first mooted. Most (nearly everyone, in fact) said more officers would be used in office roles and that commensura­tely there would be rises in crime. Guess what we read today? “Police have recorded increasing numbers of violent and sexual offences amid an overall rise in crime”. Surprise, surprise.

Corriegend­a2 We are told that losing 100 police officers will save £2.7 million. Meaning we need to make do with less police, who serve all the people of Scotland. Yet the SNP give an EXTRA £2.5 million to a Gaelic dictionary project that, we have to be honest, is not and never will be value for money as very few people in Scotland will use it.

I Know You Know Police Scotland said that while recorded crime had risen, it remained below the level recorded when the force was created in April 2013.

Braveheart When the SNP came to power in 2007 the police numbers were 16,200. They are now 17,170 DESPITE constant real-term cuts to the Scottish budget by the UK, despite only an increase of 250,000 in population. Meanwhile in England and Wales over the same period the police strength has fallen from 145,000 to 121,000 despite an increase in population of about 4 million. Increase the population, increase the crime, that’s natural.
