Fife-headquartered Cooper Software has entered into a three-year partnership with the Homeless World Cup Foundation to develop a digital competition management system.

As part of the agreement, the software firm will commit to provide staff to work alongside the tournament delivery team during the event, as well as supporting the charity with any general technology and IT advisory support that might be required.

This year’s tournament, which will take place in Mexico City in November, will see teams from 47 nations compete against one another. More than 500 participants are due to gather in Mexico City’s iconic Zocalo main square for the week-long football festival.

James Mcmeekin, tournament director at the Homeless World Cup Foundation, said: “Cooper Software’s expertise will be key in helping us deliver the best tournament to date. We look forward to implementing this new competition management system.”

Frank Cooper, managing director of Cooper Software, said: “The Homeless World Cup Foundation is an outstanding charity that is helping to change the perception of homelessness on a global scale all through the game of football. Football as a sport is very close to my heart and I had the pleasure to attend the Homeless World Cup in Glasgow two years ago where I was blown away by the sheer scale oftheevent, nottomentionthe incredible colour and enthusiasm of all the teams involved.

“It was quite simply inspirational and we are delighted to lend our support to such a fantastic charity through the development of the competition management system and are excited to watch the tournament unfold.”

Cooper has also nominated the foundation as its preferred charity partner for the next three years and will continue to raise money for it during corporate fundraising events.
