- By RORY CASSIDY

Two men appeared in court yesterday charged with attacking transport minister Humza Yousaf’s father with a hammer before stealing his car.

Stephen Dailly, 42, and Anthony Cashmore, 36, deny assaulting and robbing Muzaffar Yousaf, 63, outside his home in the Glasgow suburb of Newton Mearns.

The assault and robbery charge against them, outlined at Paisley Sheriff Court, states that, at Mr You saf’seas tren frew shire home on 2 February this year, they assaulted him “repeatedly brandish[ed] a hammer or similar instrument at him and repeatedly punch[ed] him on the head” before robbing him of the vehicle – a blue Jaguar Xf Prestige.

Both men also face a single charge of being in possession of cannabis resin, a class B drug.
