Grange look to in-form Budge as they bid to achieve a perfect six

- By GARY HEATLY

Leaders Mazars Grange will look to make it six wins out of six in the CSL Eastern Premier Division this afternoon with in-form batsman Dylan Budge likely to lead their charge.

Grange head to East Barnton Avenue to take on RH Corstorphine in fine fettle after last week’s victory over Carlton. Budge, the 22-yearold who is in the extended Scotland squad for the upcoming matches against England and Pakistan, scored a century in that match and since then has scored 143 for the Eastern Knights and 56, 52 and 65 for Scotland A.

That bucketful of runs all came before last night’s Knights T20 clash with the Western Warriors and Budge, pictured. is certainly in good nick at the right time.

With last week’s matchwinner Andrew Brock out injured, young Charlie Peet steps up having taken two wickets last week for the second XI.

Robert Edwards and Scotland squad man James Dickinson are in as well. The home side have had a good start in the top flight after promotion with three wins from five.

Rob Taylor and Calum Clarkson are unavailable so in come Arnie Sathiy and Kevin Meier.

Having taken five wickets last week against Stewart’s Melville, Callum Dutia will be keen to keep his good form going.

With Peter Ross unavailable Simon Whait will take the wicketkeeping gloves for secondplaced Heriot’s as they head for Glenrothes. James Hearn and Calum Mcdougall come into the XI too. Glenrothes are still winless in the league this season and Jamie Penman is in for Alec Davies.

Third-placed Aberdeenshire are on the road to Forfarshire. The visitors have Ian Kirk and John Dickinson back and skipper Chris Venske said: “We have started strongly this season, but we are not looking too far ahead or looking at league placings.

“At the moment we are all enjoying our cricket and playing as a unit. We have to keep that focus and results will take care of themselves.”

Arbroath head to Watsonians with Bryce Carnegie and Shaun Christie coming in. For the hosts, teenage seamer Callum Macleod is brought in after impressing in the Masterton Trophy and with the second XI. Fraser Sands is in, too.

Carlton and Stewart’s Melville meet at Grange Loan with both sides keen to kick start their seasons. Kyle Macpherson is in for the home side while Stew-mel have Kris Steel and Sam Tait in for Greg Bissett and Steven Parker.
