New role for Cavendish

British Triathlon has named Mike Cavendish as its Olympic and Paralympic performance director.

Cavendish, currently the deputy performance director at UK Athletics, succeeds Brendan Purcell, who has moved to British Rowing after five years with British Triathlon.

“I’m excited to be joining British Triathlon at such a key time for the sport in the approach to Tokyo,” said Cavendish, who will start the role on 1 September.

“I’m looking forward to getting started with an immensely talented group of athletes and staff.”
