Sturgeon urged to stop golf course at Coul Links
A coalition of environmental groups fighting proposals for a championship golf course to be built on rare sand dunes in Sutherland are calling on the First Minister to step in and save the globally important site.
The planning decision on the scheme at Coul Links, which would affect part of a site of special scientific interest at Embo, has been deferred for two weeks.
However, it seems likely it will get the green light.
Now environmentalists have written to Nicola Sturgeon, asking her to stop it.
Jonny Hughes, chief executive of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, said: “Doing so would demonstrate commitment to protecting Scotland’s natural environment and show that lessons have been learned from the damage done to Foveran Links by the disastrous Trump International Links development.”
