The number of nurses leaving the NHS in Scotland has reached a new high, prompting fears of a “staffing crisis” in hospitals. The news followed reports that nine out of 10 people were seen within four hours at Scotland’s A&E departments during April, falling short of the government’s own target of 95 per cent. @scottishlabour tweeted: “More than 500 operations were cancelled in April because our hospitals can’t cope. It’s time for SNP Health Secretary Shona Robison to go.” @Bettertoslever retorted: “Let’s see how well Labour are doing managing NHS Wales. Oh dear, it’s the worst performance on record. Best to sort out your own NHS before condemning NHS Scotland the best NHS in the UK.” @Frankalba2 replied to the news, writing: “It’s because all the EU doctors and nurses are leaving.”

Welcome to ‘Global Britain’ ” @Duncanweldon joked: “Every time the Heathrow decision has been delayed, Schiphol has sent them a cake. This is high level trolling.”

Andy Murray is aiming to compete at Wimbledon after admitting his near year-long recovery from a hip problem has taken longer than anticipated. @Mansoor98a asked: “Could we have Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal all playing at Wimbledon?” @Evelynba64 joked: “Really, will he hold a tennis racquet in anger again? ” @Mbboxtendo said: “I’ll tell you this. No athlete who operates at the level in any equivalent sport that Andy Murray does, will ever be 100% fit. It’s physically impossible. Any athlete that tells you anything different – then I’ll tell you this. They’re lying to me and themselves”
