Students warned of arrest warrant cash scam
Police have warned Chinese students to be vigilant after a man was scammed out of thousands of pounds.
The 24-year-old Stirling University student was contacted by someone claiming to be from the Chinese authorities on Sunday. The caller said the victim was subject to criminal investigation and unless a five-figure sum of money was paid, an international arrest warrant would be sought. The victim was directed to a website and paid the cash.
Officers have urged other Chinese students to be aware of the scam.
