Chelsea Pensioners mark Founder’s Day

-

Chelsea Pensioners gather for the Founder’s Day Parade at Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. The annual event celebrates the founding of the Royal Hospital Chelsea by King Charles II in 1681. The hospital cares for and houses some 300 former veterans of the British Army over the age of 65, who face living alone in older age. Founder’s Day, also known as Oak Apple Day, is marked by Chelsea Pensioners wearing oak leaves.
