£400,000 boost for homes firm
The company which manufactured modular homes for the Social Bite village in Edinburgh has been granted a £400,000 investment by the innovations arm of energy giant Centrica.
Centrica Innovations said it would issue £400,000 into Carbon Dynamic, a manufacturer of sustainable modular buildings, through its Ignite social impact investment fund.
Carbon Dynamic designs and manufactures cost-effective and low-energy buildings using locally-sourced and sustainable materials, and is working in partnership with the Albyn Housing Society and NHS Highland to deliver a pioneering smart home initiative that could transform the way health and social care is delivered.
Afirstofitskindintheuk, the “Fit Home” concept aims to enable people to continue to live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as they choose and to provide a viable alternative to full-time residentialcareandprolonged stays in hospital through the use of smart technologies and adaptable homes.
The company, which is headquartered in Invergordon, has also manufactured 11 homes for the Social Bite Village in Edinburgh, which aims to provide a low-cost, safe living environment for people currently living in temporary accommodation and homelessness shelters. The first residents are set to move into their new homes this month.
