Sunny days ahead for Joules after revenue rise

- By JANE BRADLEY

Clothing and lifestyle brand Joules celebrated a jump in group revenues to £185.9 million and said that year-end profits were likely to be ahead of expectations.

The 18.4 per cent overall rise for the year to 27 May came as the firm’s retail operations reported a 15.9 per cent increase in sales, driven by a strong e-commerce performance, as well as continued growth across the group’s store estate. The brand opened 15 net new stores during the year.

Colin Porter, chief executive, said: “This performance is testament to the strength and appeal of the Joules brand and our distinctive products which continue to resonate with our growing and highly engaged customer base. We remain confident of continued growth and expansion of the Joules brand.”

Joules said that wholesale revenue increased by almost a quarter on the prior year, driven by strong growth in the spring/summer order book from both UK and international wholesale customers.
