Fake Scotland

-

With the latest propaganda piece from the ‘Scoddish Government’ (We Are Scotland), I only wish that they would ‘please, please, please, gies, gies, gies peace’ and stop with the obnoxious, publicly sponsored adverts.

Scotland is already a tolerant nation, as is the rest of the United Kingdom. As are most Scots and they somehow manage to be tolerant and do numerous “wee deeds” on their own without a patronising lecture from the Scottish Government.

Although, it does beg the question of why the Snp-led Scottish Government felt the need to authorise its production in the first place. Probably a need to emphasise tolerant Scotland against the imagined intolerance of England. Probably an appeal to the “imagined community” that only really exists in an SNP politician’s head. For something designed to dull down feelings of “us vs. them” it sure does rely on a sense of shameless nationalism and evocative imaginary.

Frankly, the Scotland that they portray looks really attractive, though. Everyone looks to be in employment, has a great work ethic, the hospitals look amazing, people are out walking or in the gym boxing and there appears to be no sign of a self-inflicted political grievance culture. The SNP must have been voted out.
