. . . and breathe!
Two key roads in the centre of Edinburgh – The Mound and the eastern end of George Street – will shut to traffic for festivities to celebrate Clean Air Day.
Brilliant news. Closing a small section of two roads for a few hours is really going make a huge difference to air quality. Well done to everyone involved.

Stable door. Horse. Bolted.

OK, but right beside a green space in Princes Street Gardens!

Let’s celebrate a Clean Air Day by closing roads that will cause brutal congestion on other routes, causing even more pollotion than normal.
Graham Barker
So The Mound will be closed on the Thursday morning, and traffic will be barred from the eastern section of George Street at the same time. I can only imagine the resulting congestion if drivers don’t avoid the area, yet city transport leader Councillor Lesley Macinnes describes this as “fun”? Yes, what fun, Lesley! People doing yoga and whizzing up and down The Mound on electric bikes, while the surrounding area is grinding to a halt.
Louise Wilson
I hope Lesley and her pals are standing on George IV bridge watching the carnage they have caused on the day. How is the council limo going to get through?
Gordon Macdonald
Could they not have waited until Leith Street was reopened?
