JUNE 8 BUCKINGHAM PALACE

The Queen and The Prince of Wales this morning visited Westminster Abbey and were received by the Dean (the Very Reverend Dr. John Hall). Her Majesty and His Royal Highness moved through the Abbey, escorted respectively by the Dean and Sir Stephen Lamport (Receiver General), before ascending in the lift to the Diamond Jubilee Galleries. The Queen and The Prince of Wales viewed an exhibition of historical artefacts from the Abbey’s collection before returning to the ground floor and meeting benefactors and those involved in the development of the new Galleries. Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, subsequently opened the Diamond Jubilee Galleries.
