Hughes runs fastest 100m of the year

Athletics Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes clocked 9.91 seconds in Jamaica to set the fastest 100m time in the world this year.

The 22-year-old won the Racers Grand Prix and dipped under ten seconds for the first time on Saturday in Kingston.

Hughes finished ahead of American Noah Lyles and Jamaica’s Yohan Blake and moves into joint second on the British all-time list.
