Ceremonial line up: Putin marks the Day of Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks during the State Prize awards ceremony yesterday, marking the Day of Russia. Since 1992 the Day of Russia is annually celebrated on 12 June as the Russian Federation’s national holiday. It commemorat­es the adoption of the Declaratio­n of State Sovereignt­y of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Prominent writers, scientists and humanitari­an workers receive State Awards on this day.
